Well, after some blood, sweat and tears - the new Fred Astaire Website is up and running.

Previously, we were using a simple template generated site on Yahoo.com and was put together very nicely by our Office Manager, Brentney. However, since I began working at the studio, I rapidly found a need for a much more comprehensive site - particularly to provide much value added service to our students, as well as the community - which was whole-heartedly agreed upon by Amy and the staff.

For the "techies" out there - we decided to use a "content management system" that I could tailor to our studio's needs. This allows us to continue to expand the site easily without the need to rewrite more pages each time that we wanted to grow it.

The Fred Astaire Westerville studio has been in operation for 10 years. The Fred Astaire Dance Studio franchise has been operational for over 50. In that time, there has been tons of information created and a wealth of data that just isn't readily available for students. As part of that, we'll be publishing that as we move onto making it into a digital format to place on the site.

There is much more to come, but let me give you a taste of what is available on the site presently...

  • Basic information for the new and/or beginner student to find out about dance and contact us
  • The Fred Astaire Guidebook, for students to get oriented to our school (previously only available in booklet format - now available to registered users of the site)
  • Our Calendar of events (never miss out on what's happening at Fred's)
  • As well as various information about the school, our staff and the man himself, Mr. Fred Astaire.

I am presently developing the following content...

  • "How To" sections for both beginning and advanced registered users (students active in the school)
  • Our Store (purchase shoes, clothing, etc.)
  • Our on-line newsletter (never miss out on social and Fred's happenings again)
  • Our very own "Brag Book" (a gallery of photos from our many, many events throughout the years, archived)
  • A Press book, which itself is a gallery of articles and such for those needing information about the years the school has been active.
  • A Forum dedicated to our students.

So, you can see, there is lots to come. So, put us in your bookmarks and we'll see you in the studio and on the web!

Dancing with the Stars - News, Spoilers, Pictures, Profiles, Forums, and Live Commentary
  • 'DWTS' Season 11 Couples Announced
4-dwts.jpgDancing with the Stars certainly knows how to build anticipation. First there was the anticipation over the season 11 cast announcement. Then there was the anticipation during the cast announcement over each celebrity being announced. Then ABC teased us yesterday on Good Morning America by revealing the Bristol Palin/Mark Ballas pairing during an interview with the duo.

And now, finally, we have the full list of dancing duos announced on Good Morning America Wednesday morning to share with you guys. (Makes us wonder what other...
  • 'Dancing with the Stars' Season 11 Cast: Bristol Palin, The Hoff, The Situation and More
4-dwts.jpgABC has announced the 12 cast members for season 11 of Dancing with the Stars, and if you've followed the spoilers over the past few days and weeks, there should be absolutely no surprises. The list includes a Brady and a politician's daughter.

  • 'Dancing with the Stars' Season 11 Cast Rumor Round-Up
situation.jpgThe new cast of Dancing with the Stars will be announced Monday night during Bachelor Pad on ABC, but as is the tradition, many likely candidates have already been leaked and spoiled.
  • Why I'd Watch Bristol Palin on 'Dancing with the Stars'
wenn2833004.jpgIf this rumor is to be believed,it looks like ABC has found their new Kate Gosselin. At least when it comes to the "You've got to see this" factor.

E! Online reports they've learned exclusively that Bristol Palin, Sarah Palin's 19-year-old daughter, has been cast on Dancing with the Stars season 11, set to premiere on September 20.

My knee-jerk response to this news? A big, loud, horrified "Noooooooo!" But in the minute or so I've had to process this information, I've already thought...
  • Tabloids Declare 'The Situation' a Sure Thing for 'Dancing with the Stars'
04_Shot_049.jpgOK! Magazine reports that Jersey Shore star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is bringing his titular abs to ABC, and has definitely signed on for Dancing with the Stars season 11.

ABC reps never comment on casting rumors before the official cast announcement--which will come in the form of a live news conference a week from today, August 30, during Bachelor Pad--so take this rumor with a grain of salt. (And, since we're talking Jersey Shore, a shot of tequila--no use wasting good salt.)
